"Strengthened bilateral relations between Serbia and Italy": Dacic and Italian ambassador meet

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic today received Ambassador of Italy in Belgrade Carlo Lo Cascio.

In a cordial conversation, Minister Dacic congratulated the friendly people of Italy on the occasion of their national day - Republic Day, which is celebrated on June 2.

He assessed that the current pandemic has intensified contacts between the two ministries and strengthened the bilateral partnership between Serbia and Italy in difficult times.

Minister Dacic confirmed that he would go on an official bilateral visit to Rome on June 11 and that he would meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio.

During the talks, both sides expressed satisfaction with encouraging data regarding the epidemiological situation in both countries, as a precondition for a gradual normalization of social and economic activities and the lifting of remaining restrictive measures.

Opinions were exchanged about the activities that Serbia and Italy are undertaking in order to ensure unobstructed movement of people and goods, as well as about the current political situation in the region of the Western Balkans.

Ambassador Lo Cascio once again expressed his sincere gratitude for a valuable donation sent to Italy by the government of the Republic of Serbia. He stressed his satisfaction with the fact that Italy will be the first country that Minister Dacic will visit, which is in line with the very developed, dynamic and friendly relations between the two countries.
