City urban planner Marko Stojcic says that the last phase of the reconstruction of Skadarlija is underway, and that currently the central part of the famous Belgrade street is being renovated for the first time.

The focus has been to remove (restaurant) gardens during this cold weather period, because some of them have existed for decades in the same "shape," that is, not in accordance with regulations.

The gardens will continue to be there, the urbanist stressed, but in line with current norms.

"This includes installing canopies, i.e. awnings, which must also be made in accordance with the catalog of urban real estate, which means that it will not be possible to close the sides, glaze the gardens or erect roof structures," says Marko Stojcic.

So, it is important for owners of cafes and restaurants in this part of Belgrade that the gardens in Skadarlija must be standardized in the future, i.e., none of them must "stick out" in size or appearance.

The goal is for the entire project is to arrange the bohemian quarter, the most important cultural and historical part of Belgrade when it comes to tourism.
