Patriarch Porfirije is in self-isolation, the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) has announced.

"Taking into account that in the previous days he has been in contact with a priest who has a mild and asymptomatic form of Covid 19, His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will, on a doctor's advice, remain in isolation as a preventive measure in the coming days," it has been announced.

The patriarch was in the Jasenovac monastery on Sunday, and today he was supposed to speak at the funeral of the late mayor of Croatia's capital Zagreb, Milan Bandic.

Porfirije was enthroned on February 19 as the 46th head of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
