Government of Montenegro confirms it received Draft Contract with the Serbian Orthodox Church

The Government of Montenegrin will, they say, soon officially respond, after determining whether all of the draft's provisions are in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Montenegro

The draft agreement, which has been adopted by the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), has been submitted to the Government of Montenegro, the office of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic has confirmed.

The Government of Montenegro will, they say, soon officially respond, after determining whether all the draft's provisions are in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Montenegro.

"The contract between the Government of Montenegro and the Serbian Orthodox Church will be fully harmonized between both parties, while respecting the legal order of the state and the canonical and organizational structure of the Serbian Orthodox Church," reads a statement submitted to Tanjug.

Krivokapic, they say, is in constant communication with Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and Bishop of Budimlje and Niksic, Joanikije.

The contract, they announced, will be presented to the public and will be signed by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and Prime Minister Krivokapic.

"We are happy that His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will soon come to Montenegro," said the statement.
