Our only returnee in Djakovica, Dragica Gasic, has been subjected to harassment and direct threats for several days, and today the local police did not allow her to have her broken and dilapidated front door replaced without the municipality's permission, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija has announced.

As stated, the Office provided her with a new armored door for the apartment and a door fitter who was supposed to replace the old door.

After Dragica filled out a request form in the municipality, local labor inspectors allegedly came and seized Dragica's new door, and now they are asking the municipality to submit evidence of a certificate as well as the manufacturer's evidence of paid taxes, along with numerous other documents.

Namely, Dragica's intention was to replace the old door so that she would feel safer and so that she could spend nights in her apartment with at least some peace of mind.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that it would insist that pressure and attacks against Dragica Gasic must end, and that the first step towards achieving that is to create decent living conditions in the apartment to which she has returned after 22 years.
