Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who is participating in the International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, Spain, said that he will return to Belgrade during the day and stressed that he is not running away from anyone.

Vucic - responding to a journalist who asked for him to comment on the opposition media claiming that he had "fled 2,974 kilometers from Belgrade while students were organized blockades in the city" - said that on Saturday, June 28, he was waiting for his political opponents at the Presidency, and in a park in Belgrade where students opposed to the blockades are camped.

"They don't have to worry, I'm coming back today. Since they announced that they were going to block the airport," added Vucic.

The president said that he "would have given anything if he could have stayed in Belgrade yesterday, just to rest for half a day."

"I'm coming back and I enjoy the order being established in Serbia and I have no one to run away from. I've never been afraid of cowards, not even those from NovaS and N1 (TV stations), because many run away from them and no one is allowed to say anything against them, nor against the hooligans," said Vucic.

Asked to comment on the protesting students' announcement that they will "destroy the fiscal system," Vucic said that was incredibly stupid.

"Now they will withdraw money from the banks, to make Serbia collapse," he said, adding that they are showing they do not hate the current government, but Serbia and all citizens of Serbia, and want to destroy something and expose themselves for no reason to criminal or misdemeanor prosecution.

"Sometimes the state has to protect itself by turning to the laws, not just by expecting elementary ethical norms to be respected," said President Vucic.
