The president of the Democratic Party of Serbia and one of the leaders of the NADA coalition, Milos Jovanovic, believes that sanctions against Russia "are out of the question" because, as he assessed, that would be contrary to the interest of the state and the people.

Jovanovic told Euronews that he would accept the invitation to talk to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic regarding the overall situation in which the country finds itself today.

"I think that conversation is fruitful even when you do not agree, even when you present radical differences, which will obviously be the case on our part now," said Jovanovic and added that the conversation with the president of Serbia is an opportunity to clarify the situation.

According to him, during the talks that will follow, which Vucic has announced he would invite relevant political parties to, "someone will say we must go to the EU, and we will say no."

"The union will not expand in the foreseeable future, and on the other hand, Serbia cannot become a member of the EU without recognizing the secession of Kosovo and Metohija," said Jovanovic.
