"Whenever it's important, we can rely on the Emirates"

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic spoke in Abu Dhabi with the leader of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, after which the delegations of the two countries signed nine agreements.

"What is important for us - Belgrade Waterfront, many investments, but what is most important, whenever it is difficult, we can rely on the Emirates," said Vucic.

"(Serbian Finance) Minister Mali signed an important agreement," said the president and added that this is significant for Serbia because the repayment of debts is coming. Energy, a hot topic for the whole world, was also discussed in the Emirates.

"The winter after this one will be even worse and that is why we are strategically working on a plan for our energy sector and not just for one winter. Then comes the war for food in the world, for which we also need to prepare strategically, so this kind of cash loan, with which we are securing our finances, means a lot to us, especially coming from our friends."

He added that an agreement was signed allowing Serbia to receive one billion dollars at a favorable interest rate (3%), which will ensure solvency and which is a huge support for the country.

A formal reception was organized in the Palace of the Nation in Abu Dhabi for President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic who was on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates during the weekend.

Vucic was first welcomed at the airport in Abu Dhabi, followed by a formal dinner hosted in his honor by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed greeted Vucic with the words, "Welcome to your second homeland!"
