The Kosovo police have arrested Dragisa Milenkovic, a Serb from the vicinity of the enclave of Gracanica, on charges of war crimes, his family confirmed for RTS.

The family says the police officers were acting in a brutal way during the arrest.

Members of special units burst into Milenkovic's yard around noon.

They blocked off the whole area and didn't let anyone approach, and then took Milenkovic out of the house, an RTS correspondent said.

The family was told that Milenkovic was being arrested for alleged war crimes against Albanians whom he supposedly mistreated while working as a guard in a prison in Lipljan.

As the neighbors confirmed, the police asked Milenkovic which of his sons was serving in the Serbian Army.

An ambulance also arrived at the family home. The wife of the arrested Serb was taken ill and they were called in to help her.

The house was searched for weapons.

Milenkovic is a father of three.
