Russia reacts after Vucic's list loses parliamentary election in Serbia
The Kremlin appreciates the contribution of former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to the development of Russian-Serbian relations, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
"We recognize the results of the (parliamentary) elections that were held in Serbia. We greatly appreciate the contribution that Vucic made to the development of our bilateral relations," Peskov told reporters.
"Cooperation with Russia is in Serbia's interest because it above all benefits Serbia," said Peskov.
He added that Moscow intends to continue to fully support the development of Russian-Serbian relations.
"We, for our part, intend to continue doing everything possible to improve the development of our relations with Belgrade, but, as you know, it takes two to tango," said Peskov.
According to the projections of IPSOS and the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (Cesid), based on 96 percent of the processed sample, "Student List" won 52.9 percent of the votes, and "Aleksandar Vucic - United Serbia" won 38.8 percent of the votes.
