Over the weekend, Serbia signed a strategic document with the United Arab Emirates, which launched negotiations on the future free trade agreement between the two countries, said Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirovic.

"With the signing of this strategic document, negotiations on free trade between the UAE and Serbia have formally begun," said Momirovic, who signed the document on behalf of the Government of Serbia.

Momirovic stressed that this agreement with the UAE will additionally encourage new investments in Serbia from what he referred to as a very rich country.

"Belgrade Waterfront, Al Dahra, Port of Novi Sad and many other investments from the UAE are the result of good political relations between our countries," said Momirovic.

The minister also pointed out that the Government of Serbia has shown in previous years that it is strongly focused on supporting the private sector and attracting new investments.

Momirovic was on a two-day visit to the UAE, during which he had a bilateral meeting with the country's Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
