There has been an increased presence of military police patrols in squares, parks and streets in major cities, shopping centers, railway stations, the Belgrade Fair and other busy places, based on the conclusions of the Council National Security (made over the weekend), the Ministry of Defense announced today.

The Serbian Army, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and security services, is undertaking precautionary measures and preventive actions to increase the safety of citizens, facilities and institutions of the Republic of Serbia, said a statement.

It is added that for this reason, there have been more military police officers in the streets of major cities in Serbia, especially in squares, parks and streets, shopping centers, railway stations, the Belgrade Fair and other busy places.

"The safety and security of citizens is a priority, and the Serbian Army remains ready to, in accordance with the Constitution, the law and the decisions made by the state leadership, deploy its forces and resources and, together with other security forces, ensure the safety of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia," the statement concludes.
