The message of President Aleksandar Vucic on Serbian Army Day
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Serbian Army Day to Minister of Defense Bratislav Gasic, the Chief of the General Staff General Milan Mojsilovic, and all members of the Serbian military.
In his congratulatory message, Vucic said that the Serbian Army not only defends the borders, but also the dignity, traditions and values of the nation, and recalled that in the past period, the Republic of Serbia invested huge resources and efforts in equipping the Army.
"I congratulate April 23 to all members of the Serbian Army - the Day of the Serbian Army and its 210th anniversary. On this day, we remember the year 1815 when the Second Serbian Uprising took place as a key moment in the creation of the modern Serbian state. That historical act, guided by faith in freedom, is of special importance in our national history and represents a lasting source and inspiration for both the Serbian people and our Army," Vucic stated.
The Serbian Army is the custodian of the glorious traditions of the Serbian people, the embodiment of courage, honor and determination in fighting for freedom, he said and added that today, as throughout the centuries, we proudly remember all those who gave their lives for their homeland, the presidential press service quoted Aleksandar Vucic.
"In modern conditions, the Serbian Army is continuously developing its capacities, strengthening its abilities and improving combat readiness. In the past period, the Republic of Serbia has invested enormous funds and efforts in equipping its armed forces. In addition to modernizing equipment and weapons, we place a special emphasis on investing in human resources through better living and working conditions, rising salaries, investments in housing, professional training, as well as offering incentives to young people who want to join the ranks of the Serbian Army," the president pointed out.
Improvement of the training system, civilian-military cooperation, as well as active participation in peacekeeping operations and joint exercises, contribute to greater international reputation and operational readiness, he added.
"Our common duty is to preserve peace, but also to be constantly ready to protect the people and the state. The Serbian Army not only defends our borders, it defends the dignity, traditions and values of the nation," he said.
Vucic thanked members of the Serbian Army for serving their homeland honorably and responsibly.
"May this significant day be an incentive for further success and progress. I am convinced that, based on our traditions, and turned towards modernization and knowledge, we will continue to strengthen the Serbian Army in the interest of future generations. Long live the Serbian Army! Long live Serbia!," Vucic's message concluded.
