President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today visited the works on the construction of the highway E-763 Milos Veliki - the Preljina-Pozega section.

He announced a few days ago that the Preljina-Pozega section will be opened for Serbia's major holiday Vidovdan, June 28.

"We're thinking we will open the Preljina-Pozega for Vidovdan. Do you know what this means for people from Uzice, Zlatibor, Nova Varos, Prijepolje, Priboj, Sjenica, who will be able to use that road and arrive incomparably faster. You save half an hour when you have the highway instead of the horrible road through the Ovcar-Kablar Gorge to Pozega. It's the most important part and the most difficult part, and we are currently opening the longest tunnels in our country, Munjino Brdo and Laz," Vucic told TV Pink.

The section Preljina-Pozega is 30.9 kilometers long. In late January 2022, about 11 km from Preljina to Pakovrac was opened to traffic.

This section is characterized by the fact that it passes through terrain that is very demanding in terms of construction, so almost a third of the route consists of bridges and tunnels.

The three tunnels are designed to have two separate parts, one for each direction of traffic.

"This is very important for people's safety. We have had many accidents, many incidents, many problems, many casualties, so this will save lives, not to mention how much it will speed up travel toward Uzice, Zlatibor and the whole of western Serbia," Vucic said.
