Negotiations on the price of oil transportation to Hungary and Slovakia will begin mid-week, when a MOL delegation will arrive in Croatia, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said today and added that Zagreb offers its neighbors a safe route that is an alternative to Druzhba.

Plenkovic explained that JANAF's capacities exceed the real output of MOL's refineries in Slovakia and Hungary by more than three million tons of crude oil.

"As far as the talks are concerned, they are scheduled for the middle of the week. It is expected that a MOL delegation will come to Croatia. JANAF is an important business entity, a company that enables NIS in Pancevo to deliver 95 percent of crude oil for the refinery. With its capacities, JANAF enables the delivery of up to 15 million tons to refineries in Slovakia and Hungary," Plenkovic said.

He added that those refineries at their maximum capacity can annually process a little over 14 million tons.

"Last year, they processed 11.5 million tons. JANAF is an alternative supply route and can fully serve as a safe supply route concerning the oil that comes to Hungary and Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline," said Plenkovic.

He said that, apart from MOL, negotiations are also being conducted with the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) and pointed out the importance of concluding a multi-year contract.

"We offer our neighbors a safe route. JANAF has its own transport tariffs, which are common. Negotiations are ongoing, apart from MOL, with NIS. As for the overall situation regarding relations between Croatia and Hungary, we would like a multi-year agreement between JANAF and MOL to lead to a more favorable price," Plenkovic told reporters today.

Plenkovic rejected allegations that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban did not come to the opening ceremony of the corridor due to recent accusations.

"Orban had other commitments, we talked about that. It's not about that. There will be an opportunity to meet. We talked extensively in Copenhagen," concluded Plenkovic, reports HRT.
