Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met today with the new ambassador of France to Serbia, Florence Ferrari, and said he believes that successful and constructive cooperation will continue in order to further improve relations between Serbia and France.

Djuric wished Ferrari a successful mandate, and noted that the level of relations is evidenced by the strategic partnership initiated almost 15 years ago, the intense political dialogue to which regular meetings between Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Emmanuel Macron greatly contribute, as well as other high-level visits, continuous exchange of opinions on the most important issues, and in this sense added he hoped his French colleague Jean-Noel Barrot will visit Serbia in the coming period.

Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the minister referred in particular about the threat faced by the Serb people because of a series of unilateral moves made by Pristina, stressing that it is necessary to ensure the safety of our people, and then implement the obligations from the agreements reached so far.

Marko Djuric reiterated that membership in the European Union is a strategic commitment and a priority of Serbia's foreign policy, thanking France for its support.

Referring to regional topics, Djuric underlined that Serbia is clearly committed to peace and stability, both at home and in the region.

The interlocutors discussed bilateral cooperation, with special reference to relations in the field of economy, noting that this has been intensively worked on over the last few years.
