The body of a man believed to be in his early 50s was found this morning around 10:00 in an abandoned building in Francuska Street in central Belgrade.

Telegraf.rs was the first to report that the man was most likely killed in a fight believed to have happened on Monday night.

There were visible injuries on the body, while a wooden bat and a metal rod were found close to the victim.

The police have arrested two suspects, and are looking for a third!

The body, which is unofficially suspected to be of a homeless man who stayed in the building along with others, had horrific and visible injuries on the face, head and body.

Investigators believe the injuries were caused by a blunt object.

Investigation

A source close to the investigation has said that forensic department officers found a metal rod and a wooden bat at the scene, which were immediately taken for expert examination. It is suspected that those objects are the murder weapons.

"The victim had gruesome injuries. It is suspected that he may not have been killed on Monday. The body was lying on a bed," said our source.

The building where the body was found, near number 19, is known as a place where homeless people and drug addicts stay, the neighbors said. They only found out that a crime had taken place when they saw the police and the ambulance.

The Higher Public Prosecution has ordered an autopsy and a toxicology report to determine the exact cause and time of death.

The police have conducted an investigation of the scene and are now working to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators of this serious crime.
