Horror photos of Novi Sad accident: Taxi driver dies, doctors fighting to save young woman, driver arrested

A serious traffic accident that resulted in the death of a taxi driver and injury of several other people happened last night in Jevrejska Street, in the immediate vicinity of the Novi Sad synagogue.

The 53-year-old taxi driver was killed in a collision between two passenger vehicles. He died in the hospital shortly after the accident.

The doctors are still fighting to save a 24-year-old woman.

The tragedy was caused by a 25-year-old driver of a BMW with Belgrade license plates, who switched into the opposite lane and collided with the taxi head-on.

The driver of the BMW has been arrested.

Judging by the photos we are publishing, not much remained of the vehicle in which the taxi driver died. Firefighters had to cut the metal to pull those inside the car out.

Yong woman's life in danger

The youngest victim of the accident, the 24-year-old, was admitted to the hospital last night with multiple injuries.

At the time, she was unconscious and hemodynamically unstable, and was immediately taken to the intensive care unit. Her life is still in danger as of this reporting.

Three more injured

Three more people have been treated at the Novi Sad Emergency Center after the crash - a woman with serious injuries, another woman who was conscious at the time of admission, and a man who was also conscious.

The causes of the accident will be determined after the investigation has been carried out by the traffic police.
