Media adviser to the president of Serbia Suzana Vasiljevic said today that relations between Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic, and the closest associates of US President Donald Trump are very good and that there are no problems there.

Vasiljevic also stated that the meeting between Vucic and Trump had been discussed before and that everything would have gone well "if the geopolitical situation had not changed the interests of the American president."

Vasiljevic said that President Vucic met with Donald Trump Jr. in Abu Dhabi this week and that they spoke at the opening of Sustainability Week, as well as that they met at a gala dinner and that Trump Jr. announced that he would soon visit Belgrade.

"They were sitting at a table next to us, he (Trump Jr.) and his future wife Bettina Anderson approached the president (Vucic) and announced their imminent arrival in Belgrade. So that relationship is really very good. He has a good relationship with (Jared) Kushner, (Richard) Grenell and some officials within Trump's inner circle. So, as far as that is concerned, there is no problem", Vasiljevic told K1 TV.

She added that the potential meeting between the presidents of Serbia and the US had been discussed earlier and that "everything would have been fine" if the geopolitical situation had not changed Trump's interests.

"Now there are Iran, Greenland, there was Gaza, there is Ukraine and Russia. These are all big and important geopolitical stories and he (Trump) has met with few people other than the European leaders who went to negotiations, they did not have separate visits. Except for Giorgia Meloni, I can't think of another European (EU) leader that Trump received, except when they went for talks about Ukraine and Russia. So his agenda is full when it comes to these hot topics," Vasiljevic said.

She recalled that the meeting between Vucic and Trump was supposed to take place in May 2025, during Vucic's visit to the US, when Vucic was taken ill and returned to Belgrade.

"So that's all in the pipeline. There is always some odd situation, but I hope that when this is over, that is, if he (Trump) manages to resolve this situation with Russia and Ukraine and if Iran calms down, I hope that over the next year we may be able to expect (the visit). Or he will come here," said Vasiljevic and reminded that there was an agreement for Trump to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, but that this was postponed.

She pointed out that in a situation where unforeseen circumstances are constantly happening in the world, it is difficult to plan for anything.
