Director of RHMZ speaks about new cold wave and FEBRUARY in Serbia: Emergency Situations HQ holds meeting

The session of the Emergency Situations HQ of Serbia was held in Belgrade today.

Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said at the beginning that these sessions will be held as long as there is a need for it. Jugoslav Nikolic, the director of state hydro-meteorological service, RHMZ, spoke next:

"A favorable meteorological situation is expected during the coming period, without extreme weather events. Information about a new cold wave and heavy snowfall has appeared in the public. Thanks to continuous monitoring, all important information reaches the authorities in a timely manner. From February 1 to 4, cold weather is expected and this will not last long, with the lows of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius. Precipitation will be light. On February 1, snow is possible in lower areas as well, but above all in eastern Serbia," said Nikolic.

According to him, temperatures in February will be above average.

Luka Causic confirmed that the situation in the country is stable. The Poblacnica River in Priboj overflowed its banks and caused problems in some locations.

"Our people went to the field, but the water quickly receded and there was no need for evacuations," he said.

Assistant Minister of Economy Igor Crnobarac said that the energy situation is stable. Damage done to the grid in previous days is still being repaired, but the supply is now stable, he said.

The situation is favorable when it comes to traffic and infrastructure, the meeting heard, but it was noted that there are landslides on some roads near Ivanjica.
