Operatives from the Belgrade police, the 3rd UKP Department, have shed the light on the mystery of a firearms attack that took place in Ratka Mitrovica Street in Belgrde that involved a Montenegrin citizen.

A citizen of Montenegro, V.M. (21), is now under arrest. He is suspected of carrying out an attempt to murder Belgrader D.S. (26), in a way that shocked investigators.

The attack took place on January 30, around 2 pm, at a time when the street was full of passers-by. Suspect V.M. arrived at the victim's apartment carrying a recognizable food delivery bag on his back, which allowed him to pass unnoticed by the neighbors.

However, when he rang the bell and D.S. opened the door, a shocking development followed - under the deliveryman's gear, the attacker was wearing a balaclava, and pulled out his weapon.

Bullet in the hallway

As soon as the door was opened, the attacker pulled out a gun and fired. According to unofficial information investigators found the fired bullet in the hallway of the apartment, which confirms that the victim was targeted from a minimal distance. Only thanks to sheer luck, the shot was not fatal, and the assailant fled the building with the bag on his back, blending in with the surroundings.

Arrest and serious charges

Although he was wearing a mask, after analyzing footage from security cameras, police managed to quickly track down and arrest the 19-year-old.

He is charged with aggravated attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon.

The police are now checking whether V.M. was hired by a criminal group, given the detailed preparation of the attack.

V.M. has been detained by the police for up to 48 hours, and he will then be brought to the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, along with a criminal complaint.
