A real family and life drama took place two days ago in Zemun, a municipality of Belgrade, when M.F. (38), after a fierce argument demolished his father's house, and then went on to set fire to his own car. The incident happened in Novogradska Street, Telegraf.rs has learned.

The incident was preceded by a verbal altercation that soon escalated. In anger, M.F. started breaking the furniture around the house, and then made a horrible threat that got the police involved.

"I'm going to set the car on fire and jump into the river!"

According to unofficial information, before leaving the house, the man shouted that he was going to set his own car on fire, and then commit suicide by jumping into the river.

"The situation was extremely tense. The man was having a breakdown. After taking his anger out on the things in the house, he got into the car, drove to Novogradska Street and set the vehicle on fire," said a source familiar with the case.

Police found him close to that location

Firefighters and the police were immediately alerted and dispatched to the scene. While the firemen localized the blaze that engulfed the vehicle to stop it from spreading to the surrounding buildings and parked cars, police officers started searching of M.F., because of the threat of suicide.

Fortunately, that was prevented. The police located and overpowered the 38-year-old not far from the burning vehicle.

M.F. was taken into custody and charged with the criminal offense of causing public danger, given that he endangered the safety of citizens and property by setting his car on fire in a public space.
