Serbian Assembly adopts amendments to Law on Organization of State Bodies for Fight Against High-Tech Crime
The members of the Serbian Assembly today adopted amendments to the Law on the Organization and Competence of State Bodies for the Fight Against High-Tech Crime (VTK).
142 deputies voted in favor of the amendments to this law.
The amendments stipulate that the head of the Special Department for High-Tech Crime is appointed by the High Prosecutorial Council (VST), from among public prosecutors from higher public prosecutor's office or the appellate prosecutor's office.
In addition, the head and prosecutors in that department must possess special knowledge in the field of information technology.
Deputies also adopted amendments to the Law on the High Prosecutorial Council, which are in line with the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
140 deputies voted in favor of these changes.
The changes refer to the authority responsible for deciding on objections against mandatory instructions for work and conduct in a particular case, objections against decisions on substitution and objections against decisions on devolution.
As provided for in the amendments, a VST commission will be making these decisions, instead of the higher chief public prosecutor.
