Deputy PM Dacic: Albanian president's visit to southern Serbia was properly announced and approved

Deputy PM and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic said on Monday that the recent visit of President of Albania Bajram Begaj to the south of Serbia was properly announced and approved, and that all security measures were implemented exclusively by the Serbian security forces.

Dacic was speaking during the parliamentary debate on the no-confidence motion against the government, responding to Miroslav Aleksic, the opposition deputy who submitted it, and who at one point mentioned Begaj's visit to southern Serbia.

"You mentioned the president of Albania. It was a duly announced and approved visit, in line with the law. All security measures, including escort, temporary disruption of traffic and the deployment of armed units were carried out exclusively by the Serbian security forces. Serbia is a responsible state; therefore, since there has been various misinformation on this topic, please keep all of this in mind," said Dacic.

To Aleksic's criticism that the state cooperated with the son of George Soros, Dacic replied that the opposition did not mind when he and Soros were out to bring down President Slobodan Milosevic, and when they were "receiving money from him (Soros)".

Since Aleksic during his presentation mentioned Minister Snezana Paunovic referring to ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija, Dacic replied that in 1981, 50,269 Serbs lived in Pristina, while today there are 430, and asked where more than 49,000 Serbs from that city have gone, concluding that the ethnic cleansing was carried out against the Serbs.
