The heatwave will continue to bring dangerously high temperatures throughout Serbia, RHMZ is warning on Monday.

From Thursday, August 20, until Tuesday, August 25, temperatures between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius are expected, while in the central and southern regions of the country they will locally reach 42 degrees.

Today, August 17, maximum temperatures will range between 33 and 36 degrees, while during a short cooling tomorrow, August 18, they will drop to between 27 to 31 degrees.

This will be accompanied by rain and northwesterly wind, which will temporarily help in the effort to put out wildfires in Serbia. However, yet another spell of the heatwave along with southerly and southwesterly winds will follow and worsen conditions again.

RHMZ announced stronger winds in the Kosava area and in the mountains from Thursday, and in other parts of Serbia from Saturday.

The danger of wildfires is therefore increasing in the coming period.
