Belgrade Waterfront to get street named after Uzbek capital

A street in the Serbian capital's Belgrade Waterfront district will be named after Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, it has been announced today during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

A sign with the street's name is Serbian, Taskentska Ulica (Tashkent Street) was presented in the Palace of Serbia, in the presence of Mirziyoyev and Vucic.

In explaining the decision, it was stated that Tashkent is a city of rich history, culture and tradition and at the same time a modern and dynamic center that will in this way be given a special place in the Serbian capital.

It was pointed out that the naming of this street in Belgrade is an act that represents another expression of closeness, mutual respect and friendship between Serbia and Uzbekistan, between the two capitals and the two peoples.
