Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested Jovan T. (79) on suspicion that he struck and killed a 44-year-old woman LJ.L. in Visnjicka Street in Palilula, Belgrade. The accident happened yesterday afternoon.

The suspect will spend up to 48 hours in police custody.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was speeding and ran a red light in his Subaru, and then hit the woman, who was crossing the road.
Security cameras recorded accident
The details about the tragedy can be seen on the footage taken from nearby video surveillance.
It shows a passenger car and a van stopping in front of apedestrian crossing in order to let the pedestrians pass. At that moment, the suspect's car is seen driving along the far right lane, failing to stop but instead overtaking these vehicles and eventually hitting the woman at the crossing.
An ambulance crew soon arrived at the scene of the accident, but all the doctors could do was pronounce the woman dead.
The police have conducted their investigation. The suspect Jovan T. will be brought to the competent prosecutor's office for questioning, along with a criminal complaint.
