Institute of Film-Film Academy Ohrid has been open in city of Ohrid

As a result of the long-term collaboration between the Government of Republic of Macedonia, the Government of Czech Republic and it’s prestigious Film and TV school of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague -FAMU, the Institute of Film-Film Academy Ohrid has been open in the City of Ohrid, Macedonia.

The Institute will start it’s operation in the academic year 2015/2016.

The Film Institute is a public scientific institution, associate member of the University “Goce Delcev” from Stip, and it offers master programs in it’s Department of screenplay writing and dramaturgy and the Department of creative production.

The three-year study program will be conducted in English and it has been specially adapted for this institution in accordance with the standards, principles and long tradition of FAMU Prague, which is the fifth oldest film academy in the world, and has educated influential directors and screenwriters, Oscar winners and laureates at international film festivals, as is the case with the Macedonian professor, director, producer and screenwriter Ivo Trajkov, the directors and writers Jiri Menzel, Milan Kundera, Milos Forman, Emir Kusturica, Lordan Zafranovic and Vaclav Havel.

The teaching staff at the Film Institute-Film Academy Ohrid, apart from regular professors, will be consisted of visiting professors from FAMU Prague, thus ensuring that the future students learn directly from the best professors in this filed.

The enrollment process at the Film Institute-Film Academy Ohrid is open until 4 October, and students can apply by completing an electronic application form available at www.filmacademyohrid.com. Upon expiration of the application deadline, based on the assessment of the applications received and on the interviews with the candidates that will be held on 13 and 14 October, a highly professional team from this higher education institution will co-complete the selection of the future students.

In order to allow the best candidates to study at the Film Institute, regardless of the financial status, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia will award twenty full scholarships to the students that will enroll in the master studies. Student from Republic of Macedonia and foreign students can apply for the scholarship.

To qualify for the scholarship, the candidates must pass the selection process for enrolment in the Film Institute. Then, candidates whose application will be accepted by the Institute should submit all the required documentation referred in the competition for scholarship posted on the web site www.stipendii.mon.gov.mk, to the Ministry for education and science not later than 10.30.2015, together with the application form.

The academic year for the selected master students will begin in November 2015.
