Donald Trump reminds me of the bully in the classroom who never takes on the big kids and only takes on the weak ones in order to intimidate the others. Donald Trump has picked countries such as Somalia, Libya, and Iraq (countries he has no personal business with) but did not choose the big kids on the blocks like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the Emirates. These countries are the ones that the 9/11 terrorists came from.

These countries are the ones that have the money and the means to punish Trump back. We call it, “whack the weak dog.”

Donald Trump does not understand that with ISIS and radical Islam he cannot win instantly by “carpet bombing” them or killing them or shutting the doors on all Muslims. Radicalism and ISIS are an ideology with no centralized state or location that you can pin down.

It sometimes takes as long as 100 years to wipe out an ideology. In our case, what is more appropriate and is more needed, is to use education and intelligence gathering to find the needle in the haystack. We need to find the sick ones and isolate them. Any attempt to apply collective punishment will only enhance and increase terrorism.

As far as the facts themselves, since 2001, we have had 569,229 people die in car accidents and 177,068 die from gun homicides in the United States. Comparing this to radical Islamic terrorism in the United States, in the past 15 years, we have had 125 people killed as a result of homegrown Muslim terrorists. None of them were refugees, immigrants, or tourists.

Let’s make it clear, as long as there is hunger, unemployment, and a large gap between the rich and the poor, terrorism will last forever. We call this, “radical social unrest.” And this has to be fought on a day to day basis for the next hundreds of years. It is part of our life and is here to stay.
