The red-and-whites have progressed passed Copenhagen on penalties in a qualifying round of the competition. Both home and away games ended 1-1 in regular time.

Red Star will next face Young Boys in the playoffs of the elite competition - but have already earned a considerable amount of money.

Red Star earned 7.75 million euros by reaching the Champions League playoffs, and should they lose in the next round, they will still play in the Europa League group stage.

In addition to that, the club could get another 15 million if they do qualify for the Champions League - but will also have a chance to make history of the European football.

Not only did Red Star last season become the first club to reach the group stage starting in the first round of qualifiers - if they do it again, they will become the only one to do it twice in a row.

Red Star is not a favorite in the clash with Young Boys, but as they will continue the season either in the Champions League or in Europea League, the club only have cause for celebration.

The Serbian champions play their first playoff game against the Swiss representatives on Wednesday, August 21.
