US embassy issues security alert ahead of decisive Champions League qualifier game in Belgrade

The US embassy has issued a security alert ahead of the Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) vs. Young Boys football fixture that will be played in Belgrade starting at 9 pm.

The embassy's website states that at least 50,000 people are expected at the stadium, and that there may be animosity between the two clubs.

US citizens are advised to expect increased police activity throughout the city and a large police presence around the stadium.

In addition, they should expect traffic delays in the vicinity of the stadium, said the embassy.

As for actions US citizens should take, they are listed as follows:

- Avoid the areas near the stadium

- Monitor local media for updates

- Avoid crowds

- Keep a low profile

- Be aware of your surroundings
