Four measures the state uses to persuade workers to stay in Serbia

These four measures are just examples of intensive work to prevent the outflow of labor. For example, introducing flexible working hours is one way of directly reducing economic migration, as employees can balance private and work responsibilities and spend more time with their families.

As Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic said, with the socially responsible measures the state is raising the quality of life of all citizens and in that way directly influencing the position of citizens - one of the conditions for prevention economic migrations," the minister said.

"By creating new jobs and regulating the labor market,the material position of the citizens is improved, which is one of the conditions for preventing economic migration," said the minister.

Djordjevic opened the roundtable on "Emigration of the Workforce" and stressed that the government of the Republic of Serbia, with the comprehensive support of the president, is making significant efforts to address economic migration.

Djordjevic recalled that in January the government established a coordinating body for monitoring the flows of economic migration, aimed at preventing further departure of citizens of the Republic of Serbia abroad, encouraging the return of experts from the diaspora, as well as creating business and economic environment for the arrival of foreign experts.

The ex-ante impact analysis is under way, as is the National Strategy on Economic Migration for the period 2021 to 2027, the minister said, adding that a public debate on the draft Strategy on Cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce would be held by the end of December, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

The workforce emigration roundtable "Emigration of the Workforce" is the first thematic roundtable of this kind, organized by the Republic of Serbia as the current Chair of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and the European Commission Strategy for the Adriatic - Ionian Region (EUSAIR) since June 1, 2019.

Secretary General of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative Fabio Pigliapoco thanked Minister Djordjevic for his participation in the roundtable and emphasized that this is the first time that a minister of labor was present at such an event, which he said was an exceptional honor for him and for other representatives of the initiative.
