EC commends Serbia's efforts in managing migrations

The 6th meeting of the Stabilization and Association Committee between the European Union and Serbia, held in Brussels, discussed the country's progress so far in European integration, assessing that activities under Chapter 24 are progressing and that good work in this area is expected to continue.

The meeting also discussed the implementation and revision of the Action Plan for Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom and Security, and on that occasion representatives of the European Commission praised Serbia's efforts in managing migration, the Interior Ministry said.

Above all, they welcomed the adoption of the laws on foreigners and border control, as well as the strategy and accompanying action plan to combat irregular migration.

Cooperation between our border police with colleagues from the region was also commended, while representatives of the European Union reiterated that they were ready to support our country in overcoming challenges in the field of migration.

The meeting assessed that activities under Chapter 24 are progressing and that good work in this area is expected to continue.

The Interior Ministry delegation, led by Assistant Ministers of Interior Katarina Tomasevic and Zoran Lazarov, presented the work done to date on the revision of the Chapter 24 Action Plan, a statement said.
