Problematic gun-wielding sixth-grader chased around school by police, drama ends after half an hour

A sixth-grade student at Vladislava Petkovica Dis Elementary School in Veliki Mokri Lug on Thursday stormed the school building armed with and wielding a pistol, prompting the police to chase him from classroom to classroom - while children and teachers witnessed all this in shock.

As the media learns, this is not the first time that L.C., aged 12, has come to class armed. The incident happened at about 7:30 am yesterday at the school at Radosava Ljumovica Street in Veliki Mokri Lug while children were getting inside the building.

"Upon entering the building, the boy produced a gun out of his clothes and started yelling and wielding the weapon. Kids who were already in the classroom froze up with fear. Several teachers immediately went out and prevented other students from entering, and one of them called the police," says one father, who was there to take his daughter to school.

A police patrol came to the scene after receiving a report about a raging boy who was frightening everyone around him.

"Then the real drama started, because the boy started running around the school, while the police ran after him, like in a movie. The student literally ran from classroom to classroom, but after 10 minutes they caught up with him, overpowered him and took his gun. The drama ended after half an hour," says the source, adding that no one knows why he did it.

"The boy brought a pistol to school and caused incidents in the past. He probably won't be held accountable because of his age, but this has to end," the concerned father pointed out.

Yesterday, parents blocked the entrance to the school requesting an urgent meeting with the principal. According to media reports, the meeting will be held in the second week of the second semester, which begins on February 18.
