Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has called parliamentary elections today for April 26.

"Dear citizens of Serbia, I just signed the decision to call elections for people's deputies. The elections are called for April 26 of this year. I wish all participants success," said Vucic.

"Elections are an important act for our country because in elections, people always choose what kind of life they want to live. Elections are also a big responsibility, not only for political parties and citizen groups that participate in them, elections are of key importance for every citizen, so I am asking people to take part in elections. I wish a good, real, democratic, political game to all actors. And I would like us all to congratulate each other on April 26 and move together toward a better future," concluded the president of Serbia.

Apart from the date, what is known so far is that 6.8 million voters (4.8 million of whom live in Serbia) are enrolled in the unified electoral roll, and that the campaign, although not officially, has already begun, while the electoral threshold has been reduced from five to three percent.

It is also known that the ballot papers in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Serbia will be pink, while the control papers to check the validity of the ballot boxed will be turquoise. The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) decided this in late January.

According to the Law on Election of People's Deputies, elections for deputies (members of the National Assembly) are announced by the president of the Republic.

The decision to call elections determines the day of holding them and the deadlines for carrying out electoral activities.

No less than 45 and no more than 60 days may elapse from the day elections are called until they are held, and in this case, the voting will take place on April 26.
