Belgrade Fair won't be enough: Arena, Pionir, and Ranko Zeravica Hall to all become field hospitals

The estimate, he adds, is that there will be about 1,500 places in the Arena, while the other two sports venues are slightly smaller and will provide fewer beds

The Belgrade City Emergency HQ has decided this morning to prepare the Arena, the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall (aka, Pionir), and the Ranko Zeravica Hall to serve as field hospitals that will accommodate patients with mild coronavirus symptoms, said Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic.

According to him, care packages are currently being prepared in the Arena. He added that by Friday, that space will be vacated and preparations to set up a new field hospital will begin.

"It will depend on the speed at which the Fair will fill up (with patients)," Vesic said.

The estimate, he adds, is that there will be about 1,500 places in the Arena, while the other two sports venues are slightly smaller and will provide fewer beds.

"It's up to us to prepare these facilities, and then the Army will set them up for the patients. We will empty and disinfect them and hand them over for possible use," Vesic said.
