The prosecutor's office in Csongrad, Hungary, filed an indictment against three people who tried to smuggle 18 kilograms of marijuana from Serbia to Hungary using a paraglider.

The accused have known each other for a long time and worked together in a company in Szeged. Thanks to their acquaintance, but also their resources and love for paragliding, they made a deal to smuggle drugs across the border in a very unusual way.

Since May 2018, this crew crossed the Serbian-Hungarian border several times, looking for suitable terrain for taking off or landing. In the end, it was agreed that the operation would take place not far from Horgos, since they discovered the best spot there.

The drugs were allegedly procured in Novi Sad and loaded onto a paraglider in black bags.

The unusual smuggling operation began shortly after sunset, but due to engine problems, the paraglider crashed shortly after crossing the Hungarian border.

Border police immediately arrived on the scene and arrested the person who operated the paraglider, who was injured, while the investigation revealed that two more men were involved in the smuggling operation.
