Dr Kisic on new coronavirus hotspot in Vranje: This should not have happened...

Dr. Darija Kisic Tepavcevic spoke for the morning program of TV Pink about the situation in a Vranje furniture factory, where 43 workers were have been infected with coronavirus.

"We have registered a larger number of cases, this is not the spread of the virus in the general population. It entered a collective and quickly spread. Again, any contact with an infected person for more than 15 minutes can transmit coronavirus. Now that, unfortunately, the virus has appeared in this factory, we see that coronavirus is spreading very easily," said Dr. Kisic.

"The good thing is that we know that the first symptoms in workers appeared on May 13, the same day that work in that factory was stopped. Regardless of the assessment of the degree of risk, everybody has been tested and it was determined that 42 are infected with coronavirus. Only 5 percent have symptoms of pneumonia, the rest, although positive, have no symptoms," she added.

As Dr. Kisic Tepavcevic says, that is a good indicator of the strength of the virus.

"This should not have happened, but since it has, it encourages us because we see what the activity of the virus is. It now causes a much higher percentage of asymptomatic carriers," the doctor explained.
