At today's session, the government of Serbia decided to accept the recommendations of the Crisis HQ set up to combat coronavirus, so that starting tomorrow, May 22, it will no longer be necessary to produce a negative test for coronavirus or a special permit to enter Serbia, and this applies to both domestic and foreign citizens.

The Crisis HQ recommended this to the Serbian government two days ago, based on an analysis of the current epidemiological situation.

All persons entering the territory of Serbia will be given health warnings stating that they are entering a territory where the virus is still circulating, as well as ways to prevent infection, but the obligatory negative test is no longer needed.

Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic, announcing the government's session today and commenting on the recommendation of the Crisis HQ, said that the decision will not be politically motivated, but will instead be based on the stance of professionals.

"We have not been making political decisions, nor would we do that. It was a decision up to the Crisis HQ, professionals are in favor of that decision because there is a practical problem with the testing, that is, there are a large number of countries where people are not tested unless they have the symptoms. We changed the decision which meant that many people could not enter Serbia and that much depended on the arbitrariness of the government commission, which approved entry," Brnabic siad in Novi Sad, where she was visiting reconstruction works at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina.
