Huge traffic jams at Jarinje today as well: Serbian license plate trucks require special permit

A kilometers-long column was formed at the Jarinje administrative crossing today, because trucks with Serbian license plates need a special permit for transit through Kosovo.

Reciprocity measures introduced by the outgoing Kosovo government ban the passage of goods from Serbia whose accompanying papers and declarations do not bear the inscription, "Republic of Kosovo," and for two days now, drivers who are not transporting goods of Serbian origin but have Serbian license plates have also been waiting in a column of vehicles several kilometers long.

Drivers transporting goods from Slovenia, Poland and other countries to Kosovo have been waiting all day at the crossing, because they are not allowed to pass without the appropriate permit, reports the Kosovo Online portal.

"They won't let us pass because of the Serbian license plates on the truck. They are asking for some prior announcement, from a liaison officer, but no one has given us correct information yet. We don't know what will happen next," said one of the drivers.

He says that there is no "Kosovo Republic" inscription on the goods he is transporting, nor on the accompanying documentation - and points out that otherwise, he would have problems entering Serbia.

Drivers who only plan to transit through Kosovo also have problems getting across the Jarinje administrative crossing.
