Vucic: Budimka is a symbol of Serbia's recovery, rising from the ashes...

"This is a great success for Serbia, Budimka is back," said President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic during a tour of the fruit processing factory, while holding in his hands a bucket of mixed marmalade.

President Vucic received the first jar of raspberry jam that came out of the production line as a gift.

"I love raspberries, but everything is delicious," he said when he tried the jams at the plant, and joked that he would eat them later because everyone was filming him at that moment.

He told the owner Aleksandar (Markovic) to "press on, while that the state will help as much as it can".

During the tour of the plant, he said that this (Pozega, western Serbia) is a fruit-growing area, but that there are also vegetables that the factory would process. He recalled that Budimka was privatized in 2008, and then went bankrupt.

Vucic was especially interested in mixed marmalade, which he said was once the best in the former Yugoslavia. He spoke with workers, especially one of them who has been employed at Budimka for 32 years.

"I am so happy that after all the problems that Budimka has had today we can be happy. Budimka is important for the whole of Serbia. It shows us three things: for how long we have been failing, that when we work and when we are united in the struggle to improve things we can be more successful than ever, and thirdly, when I heard that Aleksandar returned, I was very happy he had come back to Serbia from London," said Vucic.

"We are ahead of other countries in the region. Eurostat said that our perfomance was the most successful in Europe in the last quarter of last year and the first of this one as well," he added.

Vucic is visited Pozega, where he attended the opening of the food industry factory "Budimka Pozega". He is also touring works on the highway E-763, on the Preljina-Pozega section (the Laz tunnel).
