Nine patients were transported yesterday from the hospital in Cacak to the Clinical Center in Kragujevac in order to unburden capacities in the local hopsital. There are currently 173 patients with coronavirus symptoms in the Cacak hospital, of whom 11 are on ventilators.

The head of the working team for suppression of coronaviruss in Cacak, Doctor Mihajlo Lukovic, told RTS that the situation in that city is serious, and that they can accommodate about 250 to 260 patients in the hospital.

He explained that there had been no new cases of coronavirus in Cacak from May 20 until June 13.

"Then, we had sporadic new cases through students and those who went to the derby, and then, thanks to a huge number of celebrations, that number was increasing, and on June 22 the epidemic started to spread seriously," Lukovic added.

He pointed out that they had a large influx of 22 to 26 patients a day, which is why an emergency situation was introduced in that city at the beginning of July.

"15 days after that we had a stagnation in the number of those newly admitted to the hospital," Lukovic pointed out.

They also prepared 100 beds in the hall in Atenica, but he hopes that those capacities will not have to be used.

"There was a completely different strategy in the spring, while there's another strategy now, now the epidemic is allowed to spread spontaneously. While in the first part, we put people who were positive without symptoms in the Plava Hall, now, if we find ourselves in that situation, we will have to accommodate those who are slightly ill," said Lukovic.

He pointed out that no matter how unpredictable the epidemic is some things can still be predicted, especially if citizens respect all anti-coronavirus measures.
