Three cities where problems could arise in next 48 hours: Coronavirus not letting up, Loncar warns

The number of examinations and admissions of those infected with coronavirus has not dropped in Cacak, Kraljevo and Pozarevac in recent days, which is why new measures have been taken today - said Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, speaking during the the Crisis HQ's news conference today.

When asked why he predicts that the influx of patients in the hospitals will increase in the coming days, he said that the biggest hotspot is still in Belgrade.

"I had a meeting with directors of Covid hospitals. In the next 48 hours, we will not have a problem with beds in hospitals. However, it is possible that these problems will come to Cacak, Kraljevo and Pozarevac, where the number of examinations and admissions is not dropping."

For that reason, some of the patients from those cities have been transferred to Belgrade, the minister explained.

"We did it for preventive reasons, so that they (medical staff) could work there more easily," he said.

In addition, the director of the Batut Institute for Public Health, Verica Jovanovic, said that a method of researching contacts and searching for potentially infected people will be determined soon.

"These days, we talked about research methods and the importance of finding contacts. A contact is a person who spends 15 minutes with an infected person without a mask and protective measures. Therefore, we appeal for protection measures to be applied, especially if it is a family with an infected member."
