Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbsn issued a decree banning foreigners from entering the country, with a few exceptions, it has been published in the country's Official Gazette.

The ban, which will take effect tomorrow, was announced last Friday, the MTI agency reported.

Exceptions apply to government officials who organize official events, recipients of medical services, foreign students with a certificate proving they are regular students, truck drivers on their way home, guests at family gatherings such as weddings and participants in sporting, cultural or religious events.

Everyone who is allowed to enter Hungary must go into a two-week quarantine and twice test negatively for coronavirus.

The two-week quarantine is also mandatory for Hungarians returning to the country from abroad.
