A day after the parliamentary elections in Montenegro held on Sunday, citizens eagerly awaited the final results. They arrived around noon on Monday. The Montenegrin State election Commission (DIK) announced that based on 100 percent of the counted votes, the ruling DPS had won 35.06 percent, while the opposition coalition "For the Future of Montenegro" received 32.55 percent.

This immediately launched post-election calculations. It was speculated all morning who the "Black-and-White" ("Crno na Bijelo") list, led by Dritan Abazovic, a young Albanian, would side with. Abazovic in the past stressed he would not cooperate with Milo Djukanovic, the leader of the DPS and Montenegrin president, but that cooperation with the opposition Democratic Front was not very close to him, either.

However, in the afternoon, Abazovic met with the leaders of the coalitions "For the Future of Montenegro" (lead by the Democratic Front) and "Peace is Our Nation", Zdravko Krivokapic and Aleksa Becic. After the talks, it was announced that they reached agreement "on several principles on which a future government will be based, which include forming a cabinet made up of experts, as well as amending, supplementing and revising discriminatory laws and bylaws, including the Law on Freedom of Religion."

However, that does not mean that the deal has been "closed." When journalists asked him today with whom he would negotiate the formation of a new Montenegrin government, Abazovic said there would be "negotiations only by those who are ready to form an expert government."

The celebration ended with a fight

While further negotiations are awaited, people are taking to the streets. Last night, gatherings were organized again through social networks.

The number of those who responded was the greatest in Podgorica, as they completely filled the plateau in front of the Podgorica Temple. While a prayer service was held in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, citizens waved Serbian and Montenegrin flags.

Sirens were heard, columns of cars honked, flares were lit... At one point, the sky was illuminated by fireworks.

Unfortunately, in the late evening hours, there was a clash between supporters of the DPS and opposition coalitions. A more serious incident was prevented by the police, who separated the two groups. However, the fight did not end without injuries.

According to Vijesti, it is not clear how the incident started. Allegedly, supporters of the government were in a cafe when a group of opposition supporters came and attacked them.

According to the report, the supporters of the authorities celebrated in the Strafta bar and sang Montenegrin songs, shouting "E viva" and lighting flares. At that moment, a column of opposition supporters came by, after which the incident began. Allegedly, bottles were also thrown from the bar.

The police stopped a column of opposition supporters and did not allow them to pass. After the clash one injured person remained lying in the street.

The morning after the unfortunate event, Zdravko Krivokapic, the leader of the "For the Future of Montenegro," said that nobody should be proud of what happened in Podgorica. He pointed out that the opposition does not want divisions and is offering a hand of reconciliation to everyone.

"It must be determined who started it. It must be determined who they are and why they did it. We should live together, and in order to live together, we must respect and appreciate each other," Krivokapic pointed out.

He once again called on the citizens to "celebrate the victory at home."
