Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in an interview for Sarajevo's Dnevni Avaz that he had an excellent conversation with US President Donald Trump in Washington, and pointed out that he tried to make everything that the Serbian delegation proposed be in the interest not only of our country but also of everyone in the region.

In the interview, a part of which Dnevni Avaz published yesterday while the whole conversation will be published today, President Aleksandar Vucic said that he acted responsibly, because he is under obligation to do everything he can for Serbia.

"I acted responsibly, I behaved politely and had the honor and opportunity to have a great conversation with Donald Trump. I would always do it again, because it is my obligation to do everything I can for my country, for Serbia. And I tried to make everything that we proposed be in the interest not only of Serbia, but also of everyone else in the region," Tanjug is reporting Vucic as saying.

Speaking about the agreement from Washington and the comments his meeting with Trump provoked, Vucic said that it did not occur to him to leave the meeting because of the (small) chair he was given.

"Imagine a president of any of our small countries from the region who is given the opportunity to enter the Oval Office, to talk bilaterally, alone with the US president, and to, when a chair is put before them, say, 'Sorry, I'm not interested in this chair, I will kick it and walk out and I don't care in the least about the US because my vanity cares very much about what kind of chair I will have'," said Vucic.

According to Avaz, Vucic came out as the absolute winner after the signing of the agreement.

"To the White House, the entire West and the region, he proved to be a responsible, constructive and mature leader ready for compromise, and to the domestic public as an uncompromising fighter against international recognition of Kosovo," the Sarajevo daily writes.

It is stressed that the risks and damages that he could possibly have had have been reduced to zero, while the space for his political growth, after he took off a great burden, is absolutely open.

"In Washington Vucic sold what was lost a long time ago and in return, of course when the bot nonsense is emphasized on the internet, at the very least he gained legitimacy that no leader or state in the region has had in the last 30 years," said the article published on the Avaz portal.

In a certain way, they say, Vucic made "the move of his political career" in Washington, Avaz concluded in its analysis.
