Special Representative of the European Union for the Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Miroslav Lajcak met with President of so-called Kosovo's Hashim Thaci, in a series of meetings with representatives of institutions in Pristina.

Hashim Thaci said that the time has come for the EU to put the issue of "mutual recognition, as the first point of the agreement" between Pristina and Belgrade on the table.

"I believe that the time has come for the EU to put the possibility of talks on mutual recognition on the table, because that should be the first point of the agreement. I want to believe that mutual recognition with the setting of standards can be a good opportunity that guarantees stability in the region, good neighborliness between our two countries and that guarantees the European future of Kosovo and Serbia," Thaci said after the talks with Lajcak in Pristina.

He said that the conversation between them was fair and constructive, open in the direction of finding possibilities for reaching a final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, which, according to Thaci, would mean "mutual recognition and the possibility for Kosovo to join the United Nations."

A meeting between Lajcak with the leaders of political parties, as well as with Serbian Orthodox Church Bishop Teodosije of Raska and Prizren is planned for later.

The European Union Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue who arrived in Pristina yesterday first spoke with Prime Minister of Provisional Institutions of Pristina Avdullah Hoti.

After the meeting, Hoti said that Lajcak's visit was organized in order to assess the current course of the dialogue and to make plans for the next meetings in that process.

He stressed that the dialogue process is not easy and that "there are very difficult topics such as the Community of Serb Municipalities."
