His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia Irinej is positive for coronavirus.

The patriarch has been admitted to a special Covid hospital in Karaburma, Belgrade. This has been confirmed by the Patriarchate.

"As part of the regular testing procedure, and after the epidemiological assessment, a PCR test was performed for SARS-COV-2, which confirmed that His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Irinej is positive, without symptoms and in excellent general condition. His Holiness has been hospitalized in a Covid hospital in Belgrade," the statement said.

He met with Hungarian ambassador yesterday

On November 4 the Serbian patriarch received in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade His Excellency Attila Pinter, the ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Serbia.

On that occasion, Ambassador Pinter handed over to His Holiness the Patriarch a letter of condolences from Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban on the occasion of the passing of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral.
