Shopping malls in Serbia crowded on Black Friday: Incredible queues in the midst of Covid epidemic

Today marks "Shopaholic Day" when almost every company offers discounts. However, measures are still in force to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, but that did not stop our fellow citizens from rushing to the stores

At the height of the coronavirus epidemic, while a record number of newly infected people are being confirmed in Serbia, shopping malls are full of people on this Black Friday.

Almost like last year, endless queues started to form from the morning hours. The bravest are obviously the younger people, so waiting under a mask is not preventing them from being patient until they reach the goods they set their mind on.

We urge you to respect the measures, keep your distance and take care of your health. There will be opportunities for shopping in the coming days or weeks. At this time, take care of yourself and your families.

The "madness" that accompanies so-called Black Friday started a few days ago, through various ads on television and social networks, and what we see today in shopping malls, is perhaps not what we had hoped for.

Namely, the growing number of people infected with Covid-19 in our country did not prevent numerous shoppers from sharing a square meter with someone else, and from standing in line for hours to shop in globally known fashion stores.

In previous years, the situation in the United States was even more alarming, since sellers marked the time of entering a store, when a "stampede" of customers would fly in and frantically grab discounted items. However, there was no coronavirus then.

Polls show that about 57% of people in America feel anxiety about shopping before the holidays and in the middle of a pandemic. Just two months earlier, fewer felt anxiety - 51%

Many sellers have been assigning less and less importance to this day over the years, and especially now, when some companies are even boycotting it. These days the recommendation is to buy more online or at least to avoid such "critical" dates.

On the other hand, the long queues in front of stores are a bit surprising, since the discounts started weeks ago (so that the brands could recuperate lost profit due to the crisis as soon as possible), and they were not much smaller compared to these on Black Friday.

Also, the measure is still in force that every shopper must wear a protective mask and keep a distance of at least two meters from another shopper or seller.
