"We have evidence of 159 camps in Kosovo and Albania, expect new indictments against ex-KLA"

President of the Working Group on Crimes of the so-called KLA and chairman of the Serbian Assembly's Committee on Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun says that there were at least 159 camps in Kosovo and Metohija and in Albania that were controlled by the so-called KLA, about which the Working Group has precise documentation. According to him, some of these are not included in the indictment of the Specialist Chambers (Special Court) in The Hague, and based on those, new indictments can be expected.

"We divided those secret, illegal detention camps into the zones of responsibility of the KLA, in order to reach those responsible for controlling them. There are those who ran those camps where people were tortured and killed, and there is command responsibility on the part of commanders of those KLA operational zones, because the prisons were located in their territory," Drecun has told Kosovo Online.

According to him, these are operational zones of the so-called KLA - Lab, Sala, Drenica, Nerodimlje, Pastrik, Dukadjini and Karadak, along with sites in northern Albania.

"There were 10 camps in the KLA's Lab operational zone. The commander was Rustem Mustafa, aka Remi. There were 13 camps in the Sala zone, and the commander was Rahman Rama. There were 16 camps in the KLA zone of Drenica, and the commander was Sami Lustaku, while in the Nerodimlje zone we registered 18 illegal prisons that were under the command responsibility of Shkuri Buja, as well as Beg Bajram, and afterwards of Isak Musliu, aka Qerqiz. When it comes to the KLA operational zone of Pastrik, it had the largest number, as many as 37 camps, and the commander was Ekrem Rexha. There were 33 camps in the Dukadjini (Dukagjini) operational zone where Ramush Haradinaj was the commander. In the KLA Karadak zone, there were 26 camps and the commander was Isufi Ahmet aka Rexha. We have established the existence of six secret camps in northern Albania," said Drecun.

He said that new indictments can be expected based on the documentation regarding those camps.

"If they continue to raise indictments, then the commanders of these zones are the ones who should be named in these indictments, among others. They (the court) mentioned two camps in Albania, but we know of at least six," Drecun explained.

He recalled that because of that, a working group was formed in the parliament in Albania, which should determine whether former Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty's allegations that crimes were committed there are true.

"However, the person who should head the working group said immediately that they would prove there were no crimes. This indicates that the aim of the working group is to deny that crimes were committed in the territory of Albania, and thus avoid the responsibility of Albania. However, Albania has been implicated in the indictment against (Hashim) Thaci and the three others, and bears responsibility for the crimes committed. Albania cannot say it didn't know what was going on, that it had no control. I am thinking about whether our working group should send an invitation for a meeting, to present them with information about the crimes committed by the KLA in the north of Albania, and if they are interested, we can give them information about the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. So they couldn't later say that they didn't know," Drecun stressed.

He believes that this (the setting up of the Albanian parliamentary working group) is being done for the sake of international public, in order to try to remove the responsibility for the crimes from Albania, because, as he said, the indictment makes serious charges against Albania as well.
